foenjam

What foenjam is

foenjam is for musicians and everyone in the performing arts. Perform live to your fans, timestamp your music as you create it, and keep the evidence that it's yours. Your channel, your posts and your fan list are yours too.

Your number

Your foen number is who you are on foenjam: your channel, your messages and your calls, all in one. Share it wherever you want people to find you.

Your twelve recovery words

Your number comes from twelve words made on your device when you got your number. There is no email and no password.

Write them down, on paper, in order. With them your number comes back on a new phone or a new browser: open Settings and bring your number from its words.

Nobody can recover them for you, not even foenjam. Never type them into a website or a message you did not open yourself.

A PIN

If other people use your device, set a PIN in Settings: it is then needed to show your words.

A band

A band can share one number: everyone who holds its twelve words can act for it. Who holds them is the band's own choice.

Your channel

Your channel is your page at foenjam.com/your-number. Set it up in My channel:

Tick List my channel and it appears on Channels, where anyone can find it. Visitors can follow you, message you, call you, and share your channel. What you're streaming, or have coming up, shows on your channel too.

Posts

Post your news, a new song or a gig: a title, up to 2,000 characters of text, and a picture. Premium members can add a link to each post.

Your channel shows one post at a time, newest first, with Newer and Older. Every post has its own short link, foenjam.com/p/…, to share anywhere. You see how many people viewed each post, and their reactions: one each, from twelve. You can remove a post at any time.

Going live

Open Go Live, choose what to stream, and press start. Your performance gets its own short link to share, and it appears on LIVE NOW while you're on.

What you can stream

When, and for whom

When you finish, the stream stays on LIVE NOW for three hours, so anyone who missed it can watch it from the start. Go Live also keeps a copy on your own device, unless you untick it: see Keeping the proof.

What your fans see

The performance, with a clock showing where they are in it. They can like it (one each, from twelve reactions), comment, tap reactions that float up over the picture, and follow you, all while you play.

What you see

On Go Live, as you play: how many are listening now, how many have watched, the likes, and the comments. And your fans: how many were already fans, how many became fans while you played, how many came back from your other streams, and how many unfollowed.

Timestamping

A timestamp is the evidence that backs up your authorship: proof that your recording, signed by you, existed before anyone else could have a copy. Timestamp as you create, and anyone who copies you is always second.

Timestamping is a premium service, built for anyone who needs it.

On stage

Every second of your performance is signed by your number as it goes out. The whole performance so far is timestamped about 20 seconds in, then every three minutes, and once more at the end. At the end, two more public blockchains timestamp it too, three in all. Keep Go Live's copy on your device ticked: the copy is what holds the proof.

A private performance is timestamped the same way, without going out to anyone.

Your files

On Timestamp, choose files or a whole folder: demos, mixes, masters, lyrics, artwork. Each file is fingerprinted on your own device, and only its fingerprint is sent: your music never leaves your hands. Give them a title, and your copyright as you declare it; one timestamp covers them all.

How long it takes

The first timestamp lands in seconds. The second takes about ten minutes, and the third a few hours. Open My performances and it adds each one to your copy once it has landed.

For reference, the three public blockchains are WAX, BSV and BTC (Bitcoin). Anyone can look a timestamp up on any of them, without asking foenjam.

Keeping the proof

My performances lists every performance and file timestamp kept on this device, and checks each one, every byte of it.

The archive holds the recording, a video of it, the files you timestamped, every proof, the details, a list of checksums, and a player that checks it all, offline, with no foenjam. Open it from the drive in Chrome or Firefox. Once every timestamp has landed, the archive is marked ✓ final.

What's on My performances lives in this browser. Clearing the site's data removes it, so keep the archive somewhere safe.

Your fans

Your fan list is yours: a list you own, not a list owned by the platform. Every follow is signed by your fan and kept on your channel's own fan thread. Only you can read it, in My channel, and you can download it any time and take it with you. foenjam never shows anyone who follows whom.

Messages

Message any channel, and reply to anyone who messages you: up to 4,000 characters, sealed, and kept for 30 days. Block anyone you'd rather not hear from.

Calls

Call any channel, with your camera and microphone. In Settings you choose who can call you: anyone with your number, only people in your foenbook, or nobody.

Voice messages

When a call to you rings out unanswered, the caller can leave you a voice message of up to a minute, kept for 30 days (premium).

Comments

Anyone with a foen number can comment on your streams and your posts, up to 300 characters, and give a comment one ❤️.

On your posts

You choose, post by post: no comments, 3 days or open. A new post is open for three days. Closing comments keeps what was already said.

Hide and block

Hide a comment and it's gone for everyone else; you can show it again. Block someone, from one of their comments on Go Live or under one of your posts, and nothing of theirs shows on any of your streams or posts. They're not told, and only you see your block list, in My channel, where you can unblock them.

Free and premium

Free: your number, your channel, posts, messages, calls, and going live with sound.

Premium adds:

On a free stream with sound only, the title picture carries a small foenjam mark; video, timestamping or restreams remove it. Your timestamps stay valid whatever happens to your membership: they're on public blockchains, not with us.
